I dunno, if I really feel like stretching the 'create a fantasy world' muscles, I could come up with non-religious anti-gay messages... but it all comes down to some powerful institutional, cultural, or social force. And that really disregards the fact that in our world, this world, the real one, religious messages are just as they say - the main driving motivation. :/
