Re Uganda, my own feeling is that the best thing we can do is support the Ugandan groups that are working there – SMUG seems the obvious one (though their website is currently down due to excess bandwidth so I can't tell if/how they accept donations).

And then, as the article says, we need to be active in our own countries and churches to counter the same kinds of hate and intolerance that is being spread everywhere.

I think you've hot the nail on the head. We must be vocal HERE (wherever 'here' is for us). The problem's world wide, not just in Africa.
